*This is a living document. As such, it may be updated. Values and specific details may change, but the core structure will remain the same*

Nova Rally

Nova Rally is a play-to-earn NFT-based racing simulation game on the WAX blockchain. Players select two drivers and one vehicle to represent them in races and compete with others to win prizes. Nova Rally drivers are among the best racing talent in the galaxy, so the type of vehicle and hidden perks of each unique character have an impact on the results of the race. Players will need to uncover powerful combinations of drivers and vehicles and adapt to different race conditions in order to climb their way up the Nova League ranks.

There is a game engine known as “Nova Tally” which is an algorithm that calculates who the winner of each race is, as well as which drivers made it to a podium finish. The competitor who completes the race in the shortest amount of time according to Nova Tally is the winner.

The game is a racing simulator, much like a football manager style game, in that players pick their team and loadout but have no direct control over their performance in the races. You can analyse trends and race data on the blockchain to work out which combinations seem to be working best and adjust your strategy.

The game is split into different seasons, with each season using a different hidden system that calculates what happens during races. Each season will end with 4 massive races known as The Nova Rally Championship where the best of the best from each league compete for the ultimate prize.

There are currently 3 planned game modes for release date:

  1. Racing Events

  2. The Death Rally

  3. Mechanic Mastermind

Getting Started

All you need to start playing Nova Rally is one vehicle and two drivers. These drivers and vehicles are unique NFTs on the WAX blockchain which are owned by the players and can be “snaked” (not staked!); passively generating tokens known as Snake Oil (SNAKOIL). Players require at least two drivers, a car and fuel. Drivers and cars are NFTs which can be obtained from a marketplace called Atomichub: You can buy Nova Rally NFT's here

Snake Oil is the fuel needed to participate in Rookie League races. There are 4 leagues that drivers and vehicles can progress through, with greater prizes to be earned in the higher leagues. Each league requires different tokens in order to participate. The four types of fuel in Nova Rally are Snake Oil, Snake Gas, Snake Power and Snake Venom.

Racing

Standard races are comprised of 8 competing teams. There is no risk of entering — other than the shame of not winning and letting your adoring fans down…

You will need Fuel to race, which you simply get hourly for owning any Nova Rally Drivers or Cars. Simply click Claim Fuel on the website to receive your tokens. The beginner fuel is called Snake Oil (SNAKOIL)

If you win a race you receive a ‘Shard Pack’ for a Vehicle or a Driver. You will need 5 of these to create a new NFT and add it to your team.

The base price to enter into a Rookie League race is 10,000 SNAKOIL tokens.

The first 10 races a player participates in every day are at the base price of 10,000 tokens. After that, each additional race costs 20% more (12,000 tokens for race #11, 14,400 tokens for race #12, etc). Overpaying for races will earn you credits towards the Mechanic Mastermind game mode which allows players to build new vehicles, only if they build upon their knowledge with each guess

The fuel required to participate in the different leagues are listed below:

10,000 Snake Oil You can top up by buying more Snakoil from other players here: https://wax.alcor.exchange/trade/snakoil-novarallytok_wax-eosio.token

How do I Earn Tokens?

Snaking

Nova Rally NFTs are snaked - which simply means the game checks a player’s inventory and sends tokens according to which NFTs they own. All players need to do is click a button and they will instantly receive their tokens. Haven’t claimed in a while? No problem - the smart contract will automatically calculate how many tokens you’ve earned since your last claim and send all accumulated tokens. Excess tokens can be sold on Alcor Exchange (wax.alcor.exchange).

There are four different tokens which can be earned in the Nova Rally galaxy, each serving as fuel for the 4 leagues players will compete in. NFTs earn tokens corresponding to which league they are in.

Nova League

Token

Rookie League:

Snake Oil (SNAKOIL)

Intermediate League

Snake Gas (SNAKGAS)

Veteran League

Snake Power (SNAKPOW)

Master League

Snake Venom (SNAKVEN)

Each token has a maximum supply of 55,555,555,555,555, which will be distributed through a daily pooling system. The daily pooling system ensures that as more Nova Rally NFTs are minted, the tokens they generate don’t lose value due to a large increase in available supply.

Each NFT has immutable attributes such as Rarity and mutable attributes such as Wins and Podium Finishes, all of which affect their snaking weights. These snaking values are taken out of the available pool rewarding players who race more often.

What does this mean?

A Sketch card will always snake for 100 times more (100x) than a Common card. The more cards in the pool, the lower the hourly rewards as more cards to split between.

Snaking Bonus:

Wins: 50 flat snaking power per win

Podium Finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd): 10 flat snaking power per Podium Finish

If you were to finish 1st you snaking power of the Car and the Two Drivers who were crowned the winners, would all gain a bonus of 60 snaking power each. 50 for a win, and 10 extra as obviously the winner of the race is in the top 3.

Drivers

Initially there will be 21 different drivers in the game. They are available as NFTs on the WAX blockchain in five rarities - Common, Uncommon, Rare, Classic and Sketch. All drivers start off in the lowest tier of the Nova League - The Rookie League, regardless of which rarity they are.

These drivers are a collection of some of the greatest racing talent in the galaxy and they all have the same goals in mind - to win races, reach the Nova Rally Master League and win the Nova Rally Championship! Each driver has their own unique perk, allowing them to occasionally spot shortcuts and save time during a race.

Rarities of driver NFTs affect snaking value, but do not affect performance. This means a Classic Sammy Snake and a Common Sammy Snake will perform equally well in races. All drivers of the same rarity have the same base snaking weight which means all Classic Sammy Snakes without additional mutable attributes such as wins and podium finishes will have the same snaking weight.

Vehicles

There are currently 4 manufacturers of Rally cars in the Nova Rally galaxy - Clunk, Speros, Dimp and Helios. At present time, there are only 10 distinct car models known to the manufacturers. The vehicles are known for their speed and power, with each vehicle dealing with racing conditions differently.

Manufacturers and Models:

Helios are the manufacturers of the Ravager, Rome and Salamander models.

Clunk are the manufacturers of the Juker, Turtle and Prizefighter models.

Dimp are the manufacturers of the Vanessa and Snout models.

Speros are the manufacturers of the Skittle and Serpent models.

There are limited edition models - known as rarity - which unlike drivers, affect both snaking weight and average racing performance. On any given day, a Common Vehicle can beat a Rare one, but on average the Rare vehicle should perform better.

League System & Promoting

There are 4 leagues for drivers and vehicles to progress through in Nova Rally - the Rookie, Intermediate, Veteran and Master leagues. Prizes for winning races are greater and greater the higher the league you are participating in. All drivers and vehicles begin as Rookies, meaning they can only participate in Rookie league races until they are promoted. If they want the challenge of grinding up the ranks and facing stronger competition, they’ll need to prove their talent by winning races in the Rookie league.

In order to participate in an Intermediate League race, you will need 2 drivers and 1 vehicle NFT at the Intermediate level. You will also require fuel that matches the league you are participating in. Once NFTs are promoted, they automatically begin earning tokens according to the league they are in. This means you’ll be ready to race at the Intermediate League as soon as your 3 required Intermediate League NFTs have generated the SNAKGAS needed to participate.

Promoting an NFT to the next league is simple. For example, in order to promote a Rookie League Sammy Snake to the Intermediate League, you need to burn 3 Rookie League Sammy Snakes. One of these burned NFTs must also have 10 wins at the Rookie League in order to be promoted to Intermediate League. Vehicle NFTs must also be promoted in order to be eligible to race in the higher leagues.

When you promote, the 3 ingredients used will be burned. You can use a Driver's Manual instead and then only the 1 ingredient that is required will be burned along with the Driver's Manual itself

If you burn 3 Common Sammy Snakes at the Rookie League (one with 10 Wins), you will receive 1 Common Sammy Snake at the Intermediate League. If you burn 2 Uncommon Sammy Snakes and 1 Common Sammy Snake, you will have a 66% chance at an Uncommon Sammy Snake in the Intermediate League. This adds an element of luck to the game and allows bolder players to take chances which could pay off or backfire, depending on the result of their promotion attempt.

Wins Required for Promotion: Rookie League to Intermediate League --> 10 Wins in Rookie League

Intermediate League to Veteran League --> 15 Wins in Intermediate League

Veteran League to Master League --> 20 Wins in Veteran League

Driver’s Manuals are special NFTs which can only be dropped during the Daily Death Rally Event. Driver’s Manuals can be used on an NFT with the required League Wins in order to promote it to the next League, without the need to burn 3 NFTs of the same character. This means that if you have a Classic Sammy Snake with 15 wins in Intermediate League, you can burn it and a Driver’s Manual NFT to promote it to a Classic Veteran League Sammy Snake. This makes Driver’s Manuals very useful, since it may be difficult to get 3 Classic Sammy Snakes to the Intermediate League.

The first 55 mints of each League will be pre-minted and reserved for players who own the 1-55 Rookie Mints. This means that if you promote a Mint 1 Sketch Sammy Snake at the Rookie League using a Driver’s Manual, you will receive a Mint 1 Sketch Sammy Snake at the Intermediate League!

In order to promote a low mint and keep your mint number, you must contact a member of the Nova Rally team via the Official Discord. DM @SammySnake#0837 If you do not care about mint number changing after promotion, then simply complete the process via the website.

The Death Rally

The Death Rally is the most prestigious of races in Nova Rally - but also the most dangerous as drivers literally risk their lives for a shot at glory! Each player may compete in a once-per-day massive test of endurance that decides who the best of the best is. Many who enter the death rally will not make it out alive.

Players who finish in the bottom 95% of competitors, have their driver NFTs burned permanently with no way to recover them. Cars are broken, and a cost of 100,000 SNAKOIL must be paid to repair before they can race again. Because of these risks, before sending any asset to the death rally, you must sign a transacion saying you understand and are willing to risk assets being burned.

The winner of the death rally takes home a Trophy NFT as well as an Invite NFT to the Nova Rally Championship at the end of the season. Winners of the death rally also receive a Driver’s Manual NFT. This manual can be transferred, sold, or used on an NFT to promote it to the next league. The remaining participants will have their vehicles damaged, which is an entry onto the mutable attributes which indicates it must be repaired at the garage before racing again.

The Daily Death Rally begins at 4 PM UTC and players can only submit one entry. Multi-accounting is strictly prohibited, and offenders run the risk of having their NFTs locked and rendered unsellable on AtomicHub. Drivers and Vehicles entered into the Death Rally cannot be used until the rally is completed.

BOOST Tokens

Nova Rally aims to promote upcoming, promising WAX projects through partnerships. Partnered projects can be staked to earn BOOST Tokens which are fungible tokens that can be traded on Alcor Exchange.

You will require 1,000,000 BOOST Tokens in order to craft 1 Boost. The boost is burned once it is used in a race. Boost provides players with a one-time consumable that has a chance of slightly increasing their performance in a race. Using boost does pose a risk and could backfire.

If you want to set record times, you may want to experiment with boost. The fastest time's achieved on each character and car combinations will receive invites to the World Championship at the end of the season. It will be further split down Rarity of Car will play a factor so that those who cannot afford more expensive cars still have a chance of going to the World Championship

Initially, 3 projects’ NFTs can be staked to earn BOOST Tokens - Oliveland, Promorplanet and Dark Country

The Nova Rally World Championship

At the end of each season, everyone with the required Invite NFT may compete in the Nova Rally Championship - the ultimate showdown! The Nova Rally Championship is the ultimate showcase of racing talent, with drivers from all over the galaxy competing for a chance to win their share of awesome prizes.

In any race, there is a chance that an Invite NFT can be dropped which allows you to participate in the end of season Nova Rally Championship. If you were participating in a Veteran League race when the Invite NFT was dropped to you, it will allow you to participate in the Veteran League Nova Rally Championship. Winners of the Death Rally, those who set some of the fastest times in each Rarity and League will receive invites to the World Championship.

The winner from each league’s Nova Rally Championship will receive a special Trophy NFT with their username engraved on it. They will also be added to the Nova Rally Hall of Fame to commemorate their performance and solidify their position in Championship History!

The biggest prize is a Car Factory NFT allowing you to spend fuel tokens to manufacture a car that you design and submit to the development team. Only you will be able to produce this car and you can sell them to the market. The Master League Factory will have a higher % of making rarer cars than the Veteran League, which has a higher chance than Intermediate League etc.

Mechanic Mastermind

Mechanic Mastermind is a game mode in which players can input different combinations of drivers and vehicles in order to uncover which combos are the most powerful.

Combinations are reset each week and specific to each player - meaning sharing homework with your friends will not help them get a better score. You slot Drivers into the following 3 roles and a score is given back to you 1. Head of Research 2. Crash Dummy 3. Tire Kicker Your top score at the end of the week is taken, and if your score is within the top % of the week then you will be able to construct your own car.

Players will select a combination of 3 drivers to test out, and the game will display the power of the chosen combination. The players who discover the most powerful combinations will win vehicle NFTs.

The amount and rarity of vehicles offered as prizes for this game mode will depend on the amount of fuel that was overpaid from players participating in over 10 races in a day. Details on Mechanic Mastermind prizes can be found in Appendix B.

Shadow Shards & Crafting

Winners of each race receive a shadow shard NFT. These shadow shards can be combined to create more drivers and vehicles.

Five shadow shards of the same character are required to craft a new driver starting at the Rookie League. Vehicle shards are generic which means in order to craft a new vehicle NFT, any 5 vehicle shards can be combined.

In the higher leagues, more Shadow Shards are awarded to winners. The Shadow Shards awarded in the higher leagues are also more powerful - with higher chances of uncommon, rare and classic drops. Full details on Shard Rewards can be found in Appendix C.

# of Shards Won & Rarity Odds ( Common / Uncommon / Rare / Classic )

Rookie League: 1 Shadow Shard, Odds: ( 75 / 18 / 7 / 0 )

Intermediate League: 2 Shadow Shards, Odds: ( 75 / 18 / 7 / 0 )

Veteran League: 5 Shadow Shards, Odds: ( 66.7 / 24.2 / 8.1 / 1 )

Master League: 6 Shadow Shards, Odds: ( 66.7 / 21.9 / 8.4 / 3 )

Play-To-Earn

Nova Rally aims to be a true play-to-earn game powered by NFTs on the WAX blockchain. Players will primarily earn by winning races, ranking up their NFTs and garages, and snaking their NFTs.

There are several fun ways to earn while playing:

Snaking assets to generate fuel tokens

Winning Shadow Shards from Racing Events

Winning Driver’s Manuals and other prizes from the Death Rally

Increasing your mutable attributes (wins and podium finishes increase snaking weight and NFT Value)

Promoting your NFTs to higher leagues (earn higher level tokens and increases NFT Value)

Winning Vehicle NFTs from the Mechanic Mastermind Game Mode

Winning the ultimate prize - The Nova Rally Championship!

Nova Tally System

Results of races are calculated using an algorithm called the Nova Tally System. Nova Tally is a hidden secret recipe that only the game’s developers know. Each season will have completely different mechanics, meaning combinations that were successful in Season One won’t necessarily be as successful in the following seasons.

Every player enters a Race with 1 Vehicle and 2 Drivers. At the start of each race, the contract makes a call to the WAX Oracle Random Number Generator smart contract to receive a provably fair random value. The random number is used to generate a race condition.

The race condition impacts how your drivers and vehicle will perform during the race. Depending on the race condition value, certain manufacturers and rarer vehicles will perform better. Also, certain characters are proficient in specific conditions, helping them spot opportunities for shortcuts which reduce their time.

The race condition value is also used to calculate how well the driver did on the home straight to the finish line. This is a minor value - milliseconds - which is used because ties have been made illegal in the Snakey Galaxy.

Races are made up of 5 Rally Stages with target times which serve as a benchmark. However, these are some of the best racers in the galaxy competing, and they smash through the benchmark times!

For every player, the following 3 factors are used to calculate the final race time:

  1. How fast did each character drive on each stage? TIME SAVED = Stage 1 Time Saved + Stage 2 TS + Stage 3 TS + Stage 4 TS + Stage 5 TS.

  2. Have any shortcuts been spotted and utilized by drivers? SHORTCUT TIME SAVED

  3. The race condition value determines the HOME STRAIGHT value.

TOTAL RACE TIME = Target Race Time - (Time Saved + Shortcut Time Saved + Home Straight Value)

Players are ranked by fastest Total Race Time (lowest Total Race Time value).

  1. 1st Place - 17 Minutes, 14.3 Seconds

  2. 2nd Place - 18 Minutes, 1.2 Seconds

  3. 3rd Place - 18 Minutes, 44.5 Seconds

The winning player gets 1 win added to all NFTs that participated in the race. Wins and podium finishes get added to the mutable attributes on the NFT, which can be seen on Atomic Hub.

Garages

Nova Rally players store their vehicles in garages. There is one garage per car manufacturer and the garages are tied to the player’s account. Garages can be levelled up by winning or placing on the podium with vehicles from that garage. Players must also expend fuel tokens to level them up.

Players can move up the ranks of their favourite garages in order to unlock bonuses and special perks related to each car manufacturer. An example of a perk would be lowering the fuel cost to repair vehicles from garages that have been sufficiently levelled up.

Vehicles undergo maintenance at the garages, ensuring that they are ready for the next race. Vehicles damaged in the Death Rally are repaired at the garage.

It costs 100,000 SNAKOIL to repair a damaged car
